Dr. Pon Sun care tips
Here Comes the Sun!
Olay presents Dr. Kucy Pon’s tips for sun safe skin. According to Dr. Kucy Pon, Olay dermatologist and assistant professor, Division of Dermatology, University of Toronto, many women love the look of sun-kissed skin–especially on their faces, but skin’s exposure to solar and artificial ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is widely recognized as a preventable cause of skin cancer. Dr. Pon shares a few additional tips on protecting skin from the sun.
Check labels - Certain medications can increase the risk of sunburn. Extra sun safety precautions should be taken by individuals on such prescriptions. Contact your dermatologist, family doctor or local pharmacist for more information.
To tan or not to tan - For a sun-kissed glow, try Olay Touch of Sun Radiance Reviver body lotion, which moisturizes your body and subtly enhance its tone and colour. Olay Touch of Sun Daily UV Facial Moisturizer builds colour, while delivering exceptional moisturization and SPF 15 protection.
Winter sun - Most people don’t think about the potential for sunburns when the sun is shining on a cold day. Regardless of temperature, skin is still exposed to UV rays so make sure skin is protected using a daily facial moisturizer with an SPF.
Fair warning – According to Dr. Kucy Pon, people with fair skin, who are prone to sunburn, are at greatest risk of sun damage, so they need to be extra careful. For sunburn protection, consider using Olay Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer with SPF 30.
Time out - The sun's rays are most intense between 10am and 4pm. If possible, try to schedule outdoor activities early in the morning or later in the day. When outdoors look for shade whenever possible. Also, keep babies under one year out of the direct sun. Their skin is very sensitive.
